Hn.

[itadori's right in his belief. ironically, it's the kind of comeback dabi can respect. not having some sappy reasoning or excuse that might make for an emotional scene. just a selfish blunt "cause me" and that's it. selfishness isn't bad. someone being willing to be honest like that without hiding or couching their thoughts behind false glossing is more preferable to the bleeding heart. saying something about "needing a friend" or "being lonely" or another variable that suggests pity or aid would've gotten him out of bed and on his way to being out the door. instead, itadori goes the one path that gets the villain to scoff slightly in amusement before he stretches out on the bed, content to stay. those words might've come from a kind smile and the easy sway of the kid's good attitude, but their resolve is fair. itadori "gets" dabi enough. it's surprising and strange, but ultimately not something he finds himself regretting.

after all, isn't that what the villains have often said is one of the main problems? no one bothers to try and understand them. no one wants to spend the time to "get" them, as a person or to their motives. even if the person who's reaching out to him is a kind-hearted idiot who balances the line between selfish and selfless probably without even knowing he's doing it.

dabi's not quite sure how he feels about the proceedings. it's only been a conversation and a few hours. it's definitely not the first time he's slept with someone in their bed. stranger even. but it would be the first time he's slept beside someone who so desperately wants to care about him.]

Yeah.

[there's only the calm agreement rather than a curt dismissal of "do what you want" that would've separated them even in the bed. instead of making it seem like itadori's imposing on him and forcing it, the villain's offering his own acceptance. even admitting a silent want for the same. of course it's a warning to not get comfortable. there's just as much a chance as itadori stabbing him in the night with whatever's behind those claws as there is dabi cremating them both to ash right here on the bed. his flames are so hot, it would only take a second or two. but whether he's doing this because it means a lot to itadori or for some other reason... dabi's trying not to think about that.

so, with that said.]

How was it?
