flies in here finally!!

When his father is arrested, Keigo knows what little he and his mother had when his father was around is gone. They have nothing now and his mother is desperate. He can't find it in himself to give into her pleas to do things his father did - to steal or worse. So when he saves a group of people from that tragic accident, salvation comes in the form of suited men and a large red-headed man seeking to take him in for their "Quirk Program". There's a strange sensation in his wings, maybe a warning, but Keigo makes a choice; he'll join their program in exchange for care of both him and his mother.

His mother doesn't even bat an eye at the sight of her only son being herded away, and the feeling in his wings never quite disappears. Realization finally comes when he's brought to the building, his new "home". The unusual sensation had been a warning that he'd traded a life on the streets for a new prison. But, he tells himself as he's ushered away, at least his mother will be taken care of.

There are other kids here, and that's a strange sight for someone used to being locked away only seeing his parents. The room he's given is small, filled with a pair of beds and a few other small pieces of furniture. There's only a brief explanation of the following day and the start of some mysterious tests. And then he's left alone with a new name - codename Hawks.

Hawks doesn't find the tests too bad. It's a relief to be able to use his wings and his quirk finally, but he can hear the screams sometimes. He sees the bandages the others wear when they come back from tests, can hear the whimpers of pain as they're left alone. He knows it's only a matter of time until he's just like them, but he doesn't linger on that thought. He's just reminded of his mother, of care she finally has.

He returns to his room after a long day of testing his quirk and his senses, and he finds himself curling up under his bed to soothe the headache he has from the constant lights and noises of the test. But when he wakes, it's to the sound of the door opening and a pair of the staff bringing in another boy. They discard him on the bed, and Hawks flinches at the sound of his body hitting the mattress. It all feels too loud, but he doesn't say anything. Only watches from his space.

When the door closes, he slides quietly out from under the bed. He crosses the distance to the other bed, wincing at the feet he can feel radiating off of the other. Slowly, he reaches out, quietly setting a small, flaming doll on the edge of the mattress. "Here," he greets softly, and then there's the soft tap of feet as he walks away, grabbing another blanket from a small dresser before returning to the bed. "We have more blankets, too." The smile he offers is bright despite a slight tremble in his hands and the way the golden eyes water under the light of the room.
