[forest again. how many times has the league been driven out of the city and into the shelter of the woods between and around those civilian establishments? ... oh right. not that many times. one of them was done on purpose, some kinda damn "training" exercise to beat down that giant and earn its respect. yeah well, dabi gave it a try once and then bailed once the doctor pulled them back. wasn't gonna get his ass handed to him over someone else's coming of age trial. not his problem. besides, he had something else to deal with.

while hawks' little initiation and testing was coming along well enough, dabi had another recruit he was working on. rather than a hero who was thinking of helping the villains, this one was a no-name could've-been hero who had little other option but to skulk around and survive or become a villain and take back a future not for him. tamaki's quirk is something many heroes would want to have at their side, but such an interesting power was wasted on heroes and their moralistic limitations. far better for tamaki to use his quirk for a much freer and less demanding side.

after all, the young man wasn't the most confident person and if he'd had just one or two other people happen to come into his life earlier, tamaki would be out there with the rest of those fakes, cringing under the reporters' cameras and buckling under the pressures of having to display a social life. the villains weren't requiring tamaki to parade himself around on display for crowds of people and televised ratings. no classes or grades demanding his attention and holding him up to a ruler of expectations. nah, the shy guy had it easy here.

officially a member? eh... he'd met them a few times before, gone on a few missions, enough that the league knew tamaki and what he could do. but someone as skittish as tamaki wasn't a person you could demand sign or die. he'd flee. and if he fled, good chance some hero might snap him up. so dabi handled him on the side. kinda babysitting, but ya know, it kept him from having to deal with some of the league's stupider shenanigans.

who wouldn't look at this rundown forest cabin and think either a murderer was inside it or some shady gang was using it as a hideout. well, that's be right twice. dabi leaned back against the couch, the cushions long gone, legs kicked up on the coffee table. he liked this place. calm, dark, sequestered. good meeting area and no demands. besides, being surrounded by wood meant he had an easy escape if something happened. but he doubted anything like that was coming his way as he waited for tamaki to arrive. probably little more than a catch up, but he was gonna ask if he wanted to officially join the league this time.

no right or wrong answer at least.]
