[he's already moving when the phone cuts out. of course his first thought is to completely betray the man he hates. this is a somewhat promising chance to capture him in an ambush and capitalize on that professed weakness. but the high chance of this also being a reverse trap to play on dabi's own obsessive revenge is high as well, and the villain doesn't want to share the spoils of this with others. especially since this time is only temporary. based on some of the information leaked down, plans to make a move could happen in a few days or a few weeks, depending on potential setbacks. the odds of the war starting while they are away are equally in their favor as against it. so this is going to be a flip of the coin.
ergo, he tells them nothing and simply leaves. no one gives him too much of an eye, though he's aware a number of them are wary of him because dabi's obviously the one who brought in hawks, who ended up being the mole and sabotaging much of their efforts. then again, dabi had warned them about trusting the asshole because once a traitor, always a traitor. he only wanted to make use of hawks and murder him once they were done milking him for all he was worth. fuck it. didn't take much to leave that place behind.
at the very least, he destroys his phone, crushing it underfoot before burning it to ash. after that, he easily hijacks a car and heads off, leaving the city behind. forces the driver to go slower and careful than normal, not wanting to get carsick. fucking hates being in vehicles. if the nomu couldn't track and report him using the teleportation quirks, he would've used those to jump. but unfortunately, they can. making his way north towards the unexpected and unknown.
ah, this reminds him of meeting endeavor after siccing the high-end on him. knowing the hero's going to be beaten down and unable to put up much of a fight. except this time, all those wounds covering him were internal rather than on the outside. fun. once the city limits are well behind them, dabi directs the driver elsewhere, veering off into the countryside. probably should've kept the cellphones for this part, but whatever. he knows a good spot. there's park out here, dedicated to heroes with memorials and effigies. most of it's vandalized and broken now, but it remains.
