[while he's certainly turned to drugs, drink, violence, and sex to curb the pain and survive in the harsh landscape of the underworld, dabi's never been one for cutting or abusing himself like that. could argue about all those piercings, but you know, they're a bit more functional more than decorative. the idea of endeavor voluntarily hurting him if dabi hurts himself is all sort of ironic and hypocritical and it's fascinating in a vindictive way. but... not sure he wants to give him the pleasure of it.]

[friends can and will decide they're someone's friend whether the friend in question wants to accept it or not. shouto's a prime example of that. endeavor sees coworkers, but from what dabi's seen of hawks, there are plenty who view endeavor as a friend and someone to protect.]

[till the whole puppet was a pile of cinders. dabi tilts his head to the side, somewhat wary, but not pulling away so much as simply baring more of his neck and jaw for endeavor to look at and touch. almost like a doctor's inspection. he's very rarely been to a doctor despite his physical state. granted it's not like he's unhealthy? just burned up and living on the streets. he can feel the heat of his father's hand on his skin, leaving lines behind his fingers. as they settle on his jaw, dabi meets endeavor's gaze again, a complete lack of emotion behind his eyes. merely curious. especially when the man's thumb began to wander across his lip. the unburnt one. soft and still "normal" to touch.]
