[Rehashing things with Dabi over and over again is also not what he wants to spend his time doing. Actually, he's not really sure what it is that he wants to focus his time alone with his son on. In an ideal world it would be easier. He'd be a regular father, and his son would not have cracked under the whiplash of having Enji pressure him toward greatness, then tell him he could never achieve it. Apologizing and redeeming himself are also off the table, both of which Dabi has soundly told him to back off of.

So what's he left with?

Getting physically closer, so far, has been the only thing that he'd allow. At first Dabi resisted even that, but it hasn't even been a full 24 hours yet, and it seems like at the very least his son is indifferent towards Enji touching him. That's something. They've also not resorted to literal flame wars, so there's that too.]

Might not have minded the freezing water if it was warmer...[He starts to try to explain his logic there, but there's not much need at this point. Dabi's already in the shower with him and being weird about it now that he's helping would be counterproductive. He decides to just get on with the shower. Enji isn't sure now is the time to say it, but he's thankful for the assist.

While he has his back to his son, he feels the touch and does the very same thing that was done to him earlier--he flinches. It's not that he hates the contact necessarily. It's just unexpected. The only people who touch him at all are villains, and they certainly don't touch him like that. Rei hasn't been within a few feet of him in decades, even when she came to see him in the hospital. So this is different.

Strangely enough, he doesn't mind the heat from Dabi's finger, maybe because he's more familiar with that than the strangeness of something gentle or exploratory.]

Bathing with you was a lot less weird when you were a kid. [He complains, but so far Dabi really hasn't done anything terribly out of line. If anything's troubling Enji, it's having to depend on someone else for something.

Enji isn't thinking about anything in particular when he gets Dabi's pants and underwear down his hips, pulling them off cautiously so he doesn't have fabric catch on the staples. And, he only remembers being curious about what Dabi's body looked like below the waist after he's gotten said pants down off his ankles and tossed them clear of the running water and across the bathroom entirely.]

I don't like any of your clothes. Too many holes.

[This isn't so strange, he thinks. Fathers and sons sharing a public shower isn't a big deal. Why does the air around them feel tense all of a sudden? He could just be projecting, so Enji keeps the conversation as normal as he can even if Dabi's junk is right there in his face.]

Ready to switch? [He's only half rinsed off with soap still visible on half his body because of the haste with which he's looking to not have to be on his knees in front of his first born.]
