[In another effort to dodge the back and forth argument in which there would never be a winner is to drop that one. Dabi is free to think he doesn't act like a child, just like he's free to be completely wrong about his father. Well, maybe not completely. That's besides the point, though.]
Guess I'll take the blame for that too. At least I have a legitimate reason for treating you like one.
[That legitimate reason being that 1) Enji is literally his father 2) It's hard to know how to treat Dabi when Touya was just a child when he lost him. Dabi may not look like a child, and may not even look like the Touya he remembers, but the stuff from back then that he's been missing are things parents didn't tend to do to adult children. Bathing together and hair washing, for example. He doesn't know how to navigate any of this stuff. Maybe he should give up on parenting the way he's given up (at least temporarily) on being a hero.]
I don't think you forgot, I think you just don't do it right habitually.
[Enji is mostly joking, but nagging Dabi is strangely satisfying. Maybe because he knows that it does bother him. He also wondered about how his skin and staples handled extended exposure to water or soap, and he's starting to answer a lot of his own questions purely by observation.
He steps forward when Dabi dips his head for the shampoo run down forward instead of back. Maybe it has to do with the way he styles his hair? Enji doesn't care that much about it, he's solely focused on making sure the shampoo is completely washed out. He wraps an arm around Dabi's waist from behind to make sure he doesn't move away as he takes just a moment to properly wash behind his ears. Enji's open hand covers a large amount of surface area of Dabi's lower abdomen.
If his father's attention is what he wanted this whole time, Enji is sure it won't take much time for Dabi to grow to dislike the attention of his overbearing father as much as his other children do. He's still surprised that Dabi backed down from trying to fight Enji back, and he know he shouldn't ask questions about that or risk those blue flames coming out again. But he's never been able to leave well enough alone.]
As long as we do it your way, you don't care if I help?
[He wants to point out how childish that is to prove his point from before, but he's already risking being shoved away by making that comment at all. So Enji keeps it to himself, just letting out a low chuckle. It must be a dad sense of humor thing because he's also aware that this might not be amusing to anyone else.
At certain moments his skin meets Dabi's and he's able to feel there's a temperature difference between them. Dabi feels cold against him, and so Enji remains wrapped around him from behind. Just being out of direct contact with the cold water has allowed him to heat up again. They both tend to run hot, probably, but maybe Dabi doesn't know he's cold because he's not bothered by it?]
Am I smothering you yet? Or is this what you always wanted?
[Enji's hand slides up Dabi's stomach to one side of his chest, pulling him back and away from the water again. He lets himself have this moment, regardless of what Dabi wants, and rests his face right on top of Dabi's wet hair.]
