[ To be fair, it it had been a bait and switch, then Katsuki would have went with a different tactic. He's just a prideful person that needs the excuse - either through winning or losing - to engage in behavior that is outside of his own expectations or those of others.

It's just easier on his ego to proceed with a challenge first. so it's totally both foreplay and fighting!

But yeah Dabi is a distance sort. Bakugou? He's whatever he wants to be. So his grinning like a maniac says that he knows. But what comes next isn't an explosion... Yet. The thing about having explosive sweat means that he doesn't need to be the one igniting it. All it means is that Katsuki can flick it in the space between them - using Dabi's own flame to create the blast.

Then using the resulting explosion to cover the sound of his own - and briefly hide in the cloude of smoke - to get around and flank. ]

[dabi merely doesn't trust heroes. even ones he's fucked around with before. always the possibility they're going to stab you in the back or try and dispose of you one way or another. he expected either from bakugou, from an attack to simply showing up. good to know he isn't let down.

if he loses out on a fun time waster with this kid, at least he'll have a fair consolation prize. it's an FF scene after all!

[he lifts both arms over his head, flames charging up in an azure burning column. ain't the only one who can clear ground. with that, dabi slams his arms down, heaving a blast of blue fire towards the roof. it'll clear out the entire surface and blow the smoke away.]

Because Katsuki might have gone off to the side instead.

So Dabs is gonna have to move or suffer a shot coming from the side ]
